Isaiah's Story
Isaiah has been sick from 1 week old. He spent most his first two years in
Children's Hospital. He has many medical issues as well as mental issues. I,
as a single mother, stay home to care for him. He needs 24 hour care. He has
been sick from day one and continues to be. They say he will not grow out of
any of this. He truly has no idea what life should be like because he is
home bound a lot. He is my hero though. Through all this he manages to stay
happy and strong. Stronger than I sometimes. I struggle daily but when I
look at him that struggle flows away. He is my heart and soul.
A little about his medical issues. His body does not produces white blood
cells, which is your immune system for the most part. So every 3 weeks he
gets an infusion. He has a port in his chest that goes to his heart to pump
the infusion through his body. It's a white blood cell infusion. This helps
him stay as healthy as he can. He gets sick a lot. He does not go out and
about much due to being exposed to germs. Isaiah also has Autism Spectrum
Disorder. He likes to stay home . Noises, people and lights bother him. He
has many sensory issues. Isaiah is behind age level as well. He does not
sleep much and struggles with daily tasks. Isaiah has epilepsy as well. It
is controlled as well as possible with meds but still has seizures. His
asthma limits him. Heat and activities outdoors are a struggle. He takes 15
meds a day . For a little boy that is too much . Although he struggles
every day, he still perseveres. I love him more and more as he shows me how
to stay strong. My boy, who is my heart and soul!
