Chance's Story

Chance started life with an uphill climb as a 1 pound, 7 ounce preemie. He has experienced many of the developmental delays associated with his premature birth. When he was 3 years old he was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma and had  multiple surgeries and chemo. He developed Auto Toxicity to the chemo treatment, which caused hearing loss. At 7 he was diagnosed with Autism, and when he was 9 the Hepatoblastoma recurred. He was facing two more liver resections and another year of chemo. He spent a lot of time in the hospital for feeding intolerance and ended up on IV nutrition through most of the year. Chance is 11 months post treatment and back on track. He has been eating on his own for 5 months now ... a first in his 11 years. Chance has been in remission for just about one year now.
