Courtney's Story
Courtney Paige was born March 7, 1997. She weighed 9lb 14 ½ oz. , and 21 inches long. Because my uterus ruptured, it put Courtney in fetal distress. Courtney spent 2 weeks in NICU. At 10 months old, we were told she had Cerebral Palsy. At 18 months she had her first surgery - a G-Tube placement because of aspiration. Since then she has had numerous surgeries involving her tonsils and hip, two on her shoulders , four surgeries on her feet, a baclofen pump implant and 7 years later - another pump replacement. Courtney is confined to a wheelchair and needs total assistance with daily living skills. Courtney communicates using a device call a DynaVox, which is used for school work, taking pictures, and going on the internet. Courtney enjoys baseball, horseback riding, going to concerts, swimming, vacations, and school. Currently, she is on a special needs cheerleading team called “Chicagoland Angels” and they are on their way to Disney on December 12, 2014 to compete in Nationals! Courtney loves hanging out with family and friends, but her two most favorite things to do are eating out and shopping!
