Kifer's Story
Kifer is a spirited young boy who has overcome many challenges in his young life. He was born 4 weeks early with drugs and alcohol in his system, cardiac issues and a brain malformation. It was very early on that Kifer started having seizures. He was slow to develop and quite delayed. Kifer was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and wasn't "supposed to be able to walk". Many medical issues popped up ranging from dysphagia to severe GERD. At that point Kifer had 2 surgeries to place feeding tubes and the reflux. Throughout his five years he's had frequent ER visits and hospitalizations due to his immunodeficiency and seizures. Kifer was always a failure to thrive child and is still a failure to grow little man despite the extra nutrition and supplements he takes. I tell him he is tiny but mighty. It's been suggested he has FG Syndrome and I do agree with this very fitting diagnosis.
While I could go on all day about his medical issues, I'd like to take some time to focus on who Kifer is. I gave him this name because in Hebrew it means "baby lion". He fought through all his medical illnesses like a little lion. Kifer is funloving, full of personality and a rather hilarious sense of humor. He has a heart of gold. Kifer likes to play soccer and even though he falls often, he gives it his best shot. He loves going to church, monster trucks, motorcycles, Chihuahuas and pepperoni. Kifer has been granted a wish trip and has chosen Disney World as his place of choice; he is very excited to go. Kifer is a people person who has an almost mystical charm that draws others to his tiny cute little elf like self.
