Nicolas's Story
Nico was born at 36 weeks due to Uterine Rupture. He was
40 minutes without oxygen. Due to the lack of oxygen, Nico has Spastic
Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy as well as CVI (Cortical Visual Impairment)
Epilepsy, GERD ,and Failure to
Thrive.
He currently sees a Pulmonary Specialist, GI Specialist, Ophthalmologist,
Orthopedic , Neurologist, Developmental Doctors as well as his
Pediatrician. He has therapy twice a week. He has occupational and physical
therapy. We will be starting Infant Stimulation Therapy. Nico is
developmentally delayed and has not met any milestones yet.
Nico cannot sit,walk, talk or eat independently. Nico has been
hospitalized three times due to
seizures, failure to thrive, and Respiratory Distress. Despite Nico's
challenges,
he is one happy boy. He is the love of our lives. We have learned so much
from him and will never give up on him.

I just want to let you know we received Nicolas quilt today. It is so beautiful we absolutely love it ! I was having such a rough day today Nico has been sick and I have been a little depressed. This quilt couldn't have came in at a better time. Reading your letter brought tears to my eyes . This quilt means a lot to our family and Nico as we know it was made with lots of love and prayers. We will always cherish it and have it with us at all times. Thank you and everyone who participates in making these special quilts. We are very grateful to know that we are not alone.
