Peyton's Story

Peyton began complaining of leg pain off and on in October 2014. We thought it was just the usual growing pains or maybe just not wanting to go to school. From October until the end of December he would continue complaining of his stomach hurting or of leg pains. I took him to his doctor numerous times and they could never find anything wrong. The early part of January, Peyton could hardly walk, never wanted to get off the couch, and didn't want to play. Something told me to get a second opinion. I took him to a different doctor who finally said something was wrong and sent us to the hospital for more tests. After many x-rays, scans, needles, blood, and surgery he was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. The main tumor is in his adrenal gland and he also has numerous cancerous spots in his bones and bone marrow. He has had 5 rounds of chemo and we just found out his cancer didn't respond to the chemo and didn't shrink. In June we began to travel to New York for treatment. We are praying they can remove the tumor. If so he will then go to MUSC for 2 months to have a stem cell transplant. Peyton loves life. He loves to play, learn, help others, and hates being sick!
